First Line Defence delivers specialist solutions and consulting to assess, manage and mitigate the risk of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) buried underground or under water. As part of a new corporate website design, agency the Lines group commissioned me to crystallise the client’s service offer. Using top-level ‘pain-point’ banner call-outs and a tiered information hierarchy, the site successfully talks to the client’s range of audiences including project managers, surveyors, construction managers, planners and developers.

Every year we complete more than 13,000 UXO surveys. That’s right: more than 1,000 UXO investigations every single month.
In 2016 we undertook 717 desktop risk assessments, split roughly 50/50 between Preliminary and Detailed investigations. To give you an idea of outcomes, 59% of our Detailed Assessments recommended proactive risk mitigation measures. 41% recommended either no further action or UXO Safety and Awareness Briefings only.
Wherever there’s UXO risk, you’ll find us there, on the ground. Each month we’ll manage some 200 live projects. Last year alone our 45+ team of specialist UXO engineers drove more than 689,000 miles keeping projects on track, spending more than 70,000 man hours on-site. In the last 12 months, we’ve amassed 7,316 man days out in the field keeping people and assets safe.
We are passionate about improving awareness of UXO, and driving Best Practice to reduce and mitigate risk. That’s why, each month, we will deliver between 200 and 500 UXO briefings to teams on-site.
